No fewer than 20 members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State fainted and were rushed to the hospital yesterday as the party inaugurated its new executive members.
The June 12 Cultural Centre, venue of the inauguration, was filled to
the brim making it difficult for anxious  members to gain access into the
hall.

Consequently, there was commotion few minutes after the arrival of the state
Governor, Ibikunle Amosun as members struggled to catch a
glimpse of him, leading to a rush, which made many people collapse.

Thereafter, Amosun ordered that all doors leading to the inner-chamber
of the hall be opened to avoid a repeat of the incident.

Addressing the mammoth crowd which thronged the venue of the inauguration, Amosun appealed for understanding about the incident, promising to ensure that a more conducive and spacious venue was used in the future.

His words: “ I have asked them to open all the doors after I was told that no fewer than 20 people had been rushed to the hospital. So, my apology. Next time we would not do such a thing here again.
“We will go to the stadium, please don’t be annoyed with me, our people outside are really suffocating and they have been taken to the hospital, but I have the belief that it will be well with them.”
‘’Next time we want to do a thing like this, we would ensure that we make use of a spacious place that can accommodate this kind of a crowd’’, the governor promised.
