The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)
in addition to the $8m that was her FIFA largesse for qualifying for
the World Cup is to receive an additional $750, 000 as part of the
profit from sponsorship of this year’s World Cup
It was gathered that the soccer
governing body will pay its 209 national member associations and six
regional confederations bonuses totalling $200 million after it hailed
this year’s World Cup in Brazil a financial success.
At its annual meeting in Sao Paulo,
FIFA’s Deputy General Secretary, Markus Kattner said this year’s
tournament will generate $4.5 billion. FIFA had estimated the month long
event would bring in $3.8 billion.
National associations will be given
$750,000 each, while confederations will receive two payments that
totalled $7 million. The bonuses are almost 40 percent higher than the
ones given after the South Africa World Cup four years ago.
FIFA President, Sepp Blatter, hoping to
be re-elected to a fifth term next year, told delegates in meetings
over the past two days that they “would be happy” with the bonuses.
