The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos
State Council, is to celebrate the 21st Anniversary of the June 12 ,1993
presidential poll with a public lecture.
The lecture which is scheduled to hold
at the Lagos Airport Hotel today is on the theme: ‘June 12: Lessons for
Today’s Democracy’.
A statement issued in Lagos by the
Chairman of the council, Deji Elumoye, and Secretary, Sylva Okereke,
said the lecture would be chaired by the former Governor of the old
Kaduna state, Alhaji Balarabe Musa while Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of
Kwara State would deliver a lecture on the theme.
Those to discuss Ahmed’s paper include
human rights activist , Mr. Femi Falana; Executive Editor of The News
magazine , Mr. Kunle Ajibade; President of Nigeria Association of Women
Journalists, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Omowole, and Co-ordinator of International
Press Centre, Mr. Lanre Arogundade.
Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos
State would be the Chief Host while the President of NUJ, Mallam Garba
Muhammed, is the host. A former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola
Tinubu, is the Father of the Day.
The statement added that the annual
lecture was aimed at celebrating the acclaimed winner of the June 12,
1993 presidential election, late Chief MKO Abiola.
